I'm applying for the Software Engineer role because the scope you're describing, owning services end to end rather than shipping tickets, is exactly the kind of work I've spent the last four years doing.

In my current role I owned our payments microservice from design through production, cutting checkout latency from 800ms to 210ms by rethinking how we batched requests and managed connections. That kind of ownership, from architecture decisions through to the numbers that prove they worked, is what I want to bring to your platform team.

Beyond that one project, I led the migration off our monolith to a service oriented architecture, coordinating across three teams and shipping it with zero downtime. It's the kind of cross team technical leadership that only comes from being trusted with systems bigger than any one engineer's usual scope, and it's exactly the level I'm looking to keep operating at.
